| CLARIFICATION:

Not mentioned in the podcast, but i will include it here: local means whatever is available to you in your area: if it is native sheep breeds then that is wonderful, but we are really trying to explore what is in our immediate area and that doesn’t have to mean native or indigenous…if you live in Outer Mongolia and there are Herdwicks there (probably not) then you use it. Any further clarification needed then get in touch.

  2. This is most interesting. I hope to join in the Swatch along.
I have been listening to your pod cast whilst knitting British Wensleydale Longwool. I am not enjoying the experience ( of the wool! ), but hope washing it will improve the texture. Sadly, this piece will not qualify for the swatch along, as it is dyed (a very beautiful) green.
I am thinking that a fleece I bought at Fibre East, a Coloured Ryeand, would be a good swatch, spinning and knitting from scratch.
Supporting the use of British/Locally grown resources of any sort for it’s proper use is to be encouraged and lauded.
