The Edinburgh Yarn Festival will be held at the Edinburgh Corn Exchange on 18-19th March
In addition to the exciting market place, with over 100 of top class exhibitors, and workshops taught by some of the finest tutors from the international knitting scene there will be an area dedicated to podcasts. I was so pleased to be asked to organise the lounge again, after the success we had last year. This year the Podcast Lounge is sponsored by Blacker Yarns and they are going to host their stall right slap bang in the thick of the Lounge!
A PLACE TO MEET….
Providing a space for podcast listeners and viewers to meet the hosts and their fellow listeners
Initially, the idea was to create a place for podcast meet-ups, like those that have been organised informally in the past. As well as meeting each other, it was a great place to sit, chat, knit and also take part in some of the lounge events. Last year was the first Podcast Lounge and just look at just some of the fun we had
We will have a Podcast meet up event from 12.30-2pm each day of the festival and hope to see lots of podcast hosts and podcast listeners joining in. This is a wonderful opportunity to meet, chat, knit and get to know the people behind the mics! (though they may also have those mics with them!).
Podcasters confirmed attending:
KnitBritish; Joeli Creates, Caithness Craft, Sockmatician, Shiny Bees, Geeky Girls Knit, KNITSONIK,, Pom Cast, Along The Lanes, Curious Handmade, Knitting Pipeline, NH Knits, Little Bee. I am also hoping I can lure Rachel Brown, from Yarn in the City, off her Porpoise Fur stall, for a visit and hopefully Kate Heppell will be popping in too – she has a new vlog Kitty Knits
A PLACE TO PARTICIPATE…
Join us for our programme of events
Last year we wanted to have a programme of events, which were fun and informative and which gave a little taste of the host podcaster’s show. This year we have more of the same. Check out the schedule (click for larger image)
A PLACE TO SIT, KNIT & CHAT…
The Blacker Yarns Podcast Lounge is open the whole weekend long for anyone to drop in and take a pew. In between the events scheduled you can join us to have a knit, chat and take a breather before heading back into the marketplace or your next class. We would love to see you and it doesn’t matter if you are not a podcast listener, viewer or podcaster, (though you may just be one of those by the time you leave!) the idea is about providing a place for the festival going community, the knitting community, the online community and the podcasting community to come together in one place.
If you have any questions about Podcast Lounge you can drop me a line at louise [at] knitbritish [dot] net.
AND DON’T FORGET…
You can buy your tickets now at the Edinburgh Yarn Festival website. Tickets will also be available on the door, but will be slightly more expensive on the day. If you are in Edinburgh on Thursday 17th March there is a knit night at a local bar cafe, AKVA. Please follow this link to find out more. You can also buy a very special EYF companion magazine – Wool Tribe – and can pre-order this now!
Can’t wait to see you there!!
