Today Cornish Tin II from Blacker Yarns is launched!
This special, limited edition yarn has been created to celebrate Blacker’s 11th birthday and the blend of wool and fibre contained in this woollen spun yarn is 100% UK based fibre. The natural steely grey colour of the fibres have been dyed in 7 shades and are all named after Cornish Tin mines. The fibres include Saxon merino, Shetland, Portland, mohair, Jacob, Gotland, English merino, Black Welsh mountain and alpaca. The yarn will be available in DK and 4ply and its what I call a very luxury workhorse yarn on the latest episode. You can listen to me review this yarn on episode 66 of the podcast.
Also launching today is a pattern, designed by Sonja Bargielowska, specifically to celebrate this limited edition yarn. The Polgooth socks use three shades of the DK and don’t they just look the comfiest cosiest kinda socks?!

I put 3 skeins in my basket this morning to knit the Polgooth socks. Then I had second thoughts (or cold feet haha) – £50 for socks is out of my price range I’m afraid. However, if I were lucky enough to win a skein, I promise faithfully I will buy the rest to knit this lovely pattern.

I really liked the blue, turquoise, orange combination from the pattern but I reckon a pink contrast toe would be very lovely too.
I ordered a skein of Wheal Rose Red early this morning before I’d even had my first cup of tea….. I’ll be casting on an Ishbel shawl by Ysolda as soon as it arrives as there’s a bit of leeway in the pattern to tinker until almost all the skein is used up.
I would love a jumper quantity in dolcoath teal to knit the Aislinn cardigan by Amy Herzog. With one skein of poldice pink, I’d knit the rose water tam by tincanknits
I ordered a skein of the orange colour in the DK weight to make a Quadri hat by Michelle Wang.
I will try a snood in bands of all the colours shown here. Probably having more of grey background.
I am very keen to cast on Docks by Trin Annelie in Dolcoath Turquoise, popped with Wheal Kitty Orange. Nom, nom!
I’m planning an Ishnana cardigan by Ysolda in the 4ply weight, in the Ding Dong Purple, which I luckily have winging its way to me. I love the idea of showing off this yarn with a mix of cables and lace. I’ve knitted this cardigan before as a gift and really wanted to make one for myself, Tin 2 sounds like the perfect yarn.
I would love to get my hans on some skeins of DK levant grey. I would knit a lovely Aidez cardigan.

I just bought a hank of the Cornish Tin II Poldice Pink DK today to knit the pretty Kaali mittens by Fiona Alice from Pom Pom Autumn 2016. I think the yarn will be beautifully showcased in this simple yet lovely pattern.
So, since I will soon have my own hank of the Poldice Pink, please don’t give me yours. I’m sure someone else would cherish having one.

I would cast on Triplicity by Michelle Hunter. My winter coat is flannel grey so the pink would look great against it.

I’ve finally decided! With my 3 skeins I’ll knit Fair Isle Tea Cozy by Kristen Orme in Polgooth Blue, Wheal Rose Red and Levant Grey. I will look lovely with my Ancestral tea cups.
Oh, I think it has to be a Loch Hat from Tin Can Knits. I’ve made one in cashmere, which is glorious, but I’d love to try knitting it up in something sturdier and I bet the patterning would look amazing with Tin II, looking at the stitch definition in the socks. Especially in Levant Grey, showing off all that lovely natural colour depth and warmth.
I would have to choose the beautiful turquoise, and make a hat so that I could show off the colour all winter. I think Woolly Wormhead’s amazing Arbacia beret would be perfect.

I was sad to have missed the first Cornish Tin, so I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this incarnation. Nonetheless, I would love a skein in DK to try out. It would make a good hat for the coming cold weather.
If I were made of money I would buy enough of the Wheel Kitty Orange to make Arrow by Megh Testerman. Totally not my color, but that orange is so bright and warm and happy.
It would have to be Ella Gordon’s hap, I’ve been dreaming of it since she released it last week. ????

I would use Gorland grey, poldice pink and dingdong purple for Quill by Helen Stewart.
I am planning to knit Veronik Avery’s League sweater using Levant grey for the body, Gorland grey for the sleeves and the final decision for the shoulder pieces will be Wheal Kitty orange/Poldice pink or Dolcoath turquoise (a nice dilemma to have such wonderful colours) I haven’t knit with Blacker yarn before so I am very excited

The grey, either since both are lovely, would make a great base for the polgooth socks. Love the look.
My daughter loves pink and I have promised her a jumper so I would probably use the pink with gorland grey and ding dong purple and make her the band of hearts jumper.
Well I was trying to resist buying Cornish Tin 11 until I happened to be in Kathys Knits on Tuesday – I came out with enough of Dolcoath Turquoise 4ply to knit a very simple cropped raglan cardigan using a vintage Jaeger pattern – much tried and tested!
One skein of the DK would make a lovely Peppermint Leaves hat by Clare Devine.
My favourite colour is Wheal Kitty Orange and I think it would look lovely in a Lush cardigan by Tin Can Knits. If I was the lucky winner of Poldice Pink I would fancy knitting Woodland Tales mittens from Pom Pom.
Oooo, I think it would have to be Carol Feller’s Montbretia from the Book of Haps with Ding Dong Purple as the main colour, and Poldice Pink and Leviant Grey as the contrasting colours.
I absolutely love the Poldice Pink colour. In the 4 ply I would make a Hitofude and in the DK I would make Wavedeck by Kate Atherley.

I’d pair the pink with the Lelant Grey, and knit the Hebridean Hap that’s been in my Rav queue staring at me since May.
Of course if I was fickle I might knit a not matching pair of Air Quotes Socks….decision making where knitting is concerned is not my forte. 😀
I’d knit the Ursula cardigan by Kate Davies – with the undyed shade as a main colour, and the turquoise and orange as contrast. Maybe the purple too, but I’m not sure.

I am always on the lookout for gorgeous new designs by theknittinggoddess on Rav. I am torn between her Ruffle shawl in Mullach shade, or using the Lush Levenish in an upcoming kal in my Ravelry group which will be to design your own pattern. These yarns would give me complete confidence that whatever I decide, it will be loved and worn to death.
I have some gorgeous off-white woolly DK in my stash which would couple wonderfully with the Poldice Pink for this fair isle toque http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/19-fair-isle-toque. Or perhaps I’d swap the white for a heathery gray. Decisions, decisions!

Stunning colours and beautiful yarn! I would knit the Mellit mitts by Clare Devine in Polgooth blue and Poldice pink, or blue and orange.
Your “strict rules” just sent me on a lovely sojourn thru the Bleeker yarns and patterns. Ah, to dream! It is a wonderful thing! I would choose this “Beanie & Mitts” pattern, free from Bleeker yarns actually, because I’m practical that way, but also because I LOVE, love, love the braid on the hat brim and glove cuffs. Poldice Pink would be my first choice, as I think the dreamy pink color is perfect for this set. With an additional color, I’d add Wheal Rose Red into the mix, figure out how to intertwine the two colors into the braid, maybe add a bit of Fair Isle or some other color work detail on the main body of the gloves.
